The Marketing Athlete

As a teenager, I wanted to be a professional athlete. I practiced and played in multiple sports and focused on basketball until I realized that I wasn’t good enough to really be a professional athlete (don’t get me wrong, I’m pretty good, just not good enough…). So when I heard the term Marketing Athlete for the first time, I was intrigued. Here’s an opportunity to be a professional athlete, even at my height.

What I mostly like about this term is that it sums up a whole lot about what I appreciate so much in being a marketer. First of all, it gives some level of exclusivity – not everyone can be an athlete. Secondly, being an athlete means that you are not an amateur, it’s not just a hobby, it’s your job. Lastly, it hints to the ability to pick up disciplines, formats and new situations quickly and efficiently.

I consider myself a Marketing Athlete, and this blog as my practice playground. I will share thoughts, ideas, experiences and stories about marketing and business. I would love to hear your thoughts, comments and feedback. You can write to me here or connect with me on your favorite social network.
